Privacy Policy

This policy describes processing by Latent Ape LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company (“Latent Ape,” “we,” or “us”), operator of Bookmarqer at bookmarqer.com. It covers the website, Chrome extension, iOS app and share extension, API, and authorized integrations.

1. Information we collect

2. Chrome and iOS capture

The Chrome extension reads the page when you invoke saving through its toolbar, keyboard shortcut, or context menu. Saving the current page can send its title and up to 12,000 characters of selected text, tweet text, article/main text, or a page description. A context-menu link save sends the selected URL. It does not request access to your full browsing history or continuously record browsing. Text visible on a signed-in page can still be included when you save that page.

The iOS app/share extension receives URLs and text you choose to share, and requests you make within the app. Authentication credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain shared with the extension. Chrome stores authentication credentials in extension-local storage restricted from ordinary page scripts. Removing a client does not delete your server-side account.

Public profiles and following

Profiles and projects are private by default. If you opt into a public profile, your chosen username is public. Publishing a project makes its name and the titles, URLs and save dates of all current and future links in that project available to anyone, including visitors without accounts. This includes automatically categorized links. Notes, project descriptions, AI summaries, email addresses and reading history are not included in public pages. Check URLs and titles for sensitive information before publishing. Others may copy or index public content; making it private cannot recall those copies.

We store which users and projects you follow to provide your Following feed. Your following list is visible only to you. Following a user includes their current and future public projects. Making a profile private hides all its projects and resets their visibility; projects must be explicitly published again. Follow relationships remain until unfollowed or the relevant account or project is deleted, but private content is excluded from feeds.

Content safety and moderation

We store reports, their reasons and optional details, the reporting and reported account identifiers, and block relationships to investigate abuse and honor blocking choices. Reports are available to authorized moderators, not to the reported user. Moderators review content proposed for public sharing—including usernames, project names, link titles and URLs—and may inspect linked source pages. This human review is separate from optional AI processing and does not expose your private notes or summaries in the moderation queue. We record moderator decisions and their timestamps. Report and block records are removed when the relevant accounts are deleted; reports about deleted bookmarks or projects are removed with those items. Moderation decision records are removed when the content owner's account is deleted; deleting a moderator account removes its identifier from decisions about other accounts.

AI sharing choice

Before AI processing, you can allow sharing with the recipients named in Bookmarqer’s AI sharing screen or continue saving without AI. Permission applies to existing and future saved content across clients, including background processing. We store your decision, the disclosure and its version, and a timestamp. You can withdraw in AI sharing settings. Withdrawal stops future requests; it cannot recall content already sent to providers. Existing summaries remain with their bookmarks. Material changes to the disclosure require fresh permission.

Inbox suggestions

With current AI sharing permission, we can periodically review uncategorized saves alongside existing project names, descriptions and classification guidance, and email useful organization suggestions to your account email. Suggestions do not move links until you approve. You can disable reviews and suggestion emails separately in Settings. We retain accepted and dismissed suggestion names to avoid repeating them; account deletion removes suggestions and pending review/email records.

3. Why we use information

We use information to authenticate you; store, search, organize, summarize, and score saved content; show your link-opening and revisit insights; deliver requested weekly/project digests; operate integrations you authorize; provide support; prevent abuse; and maintain reliability. Topic profiles describe saved content, not a determination of your identity, beliefs, health, or other personal traits. They are not used to make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, or similar eligibility.

4. AI and other recipients

AI processing sends relevant saved content to OpenRouter and the named model provider, OpenAI or Anthropic for summaries, visual interpretation, and periodic Inbox reviews that suggest projects, and to Jev/TypeSafe for classification and scoring. Depending on the operation, this includes extracted text, image content, summaries, notes, and project descriptions. The AI sharing screen identifies the configured provider. Routing is restricted to that provider without silent fallback; a model change requires renewed permission. See the provider list. Do not submit confidential, regulated, or highly sensitive information unless your organization has approved the processing and applicable provider terms.

Cloudflare hosts the application, storage, database, queues, and page retrieval. Clerk handles sign-in. Resend provides outbound email when digest delivery is enabled; it receives recipient addresses and digest content. X/Twitter and FxTwitter receive public post identifiers/requests for retrieval. Sites you save receive requests when their content is fetched. Opening an embedded tweet loads X resources in your browser and may expose IP/device information or use cookies under X’s policies.

Providers have their own retention, security and processing terms. This policy does not promise zero retention, a particular processing region, or that every provider has identical training restrictions. Contact us before submitting business content that requires specific contractual safeguards. Latent Ape does not sell saved content or use it for targeted advertising. Transfers are for operating requested features, authorized disclosures, legal obligations, security, or a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards.

5. Chrome Limited Use

Bookmarqer’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Browsing-related information is used for the saving and organization features you invoke, not advertising, creditworthiness, or unrelated profiling. Human access is limited to what is needed for support with your permission, security, legal compliance, or other purposes allowed by that policy.

6. Storage, retention and deletion

We retain your saved content, projects, summaries, interest profiles and revisit history for as long as your account remains in use and open, unless you delete them sooner. An account remains open until you or we close it; a period without signing in does not automatically delete it. You may request account deletion at any time. Deleting a bookmark removes its active database record and requests deletion of its cached source content; generated interest scores are linked to that record. Deleting a project moves its bookmarks to Inbox rather than deleting the bookmarks. Deleting a bookmark does not recall an already sent email or necessarily erase prior digest payloads, provider logs, or backups.

You can initiate account deletion inside iOS or on the web. The request disables access and removes your active library, profiles, visit history, consent history and digest records. Storage cleanup, linked Apple authorization revocation and Clerk account deletion are retried in the background. A minimal deletion record is retained to block stale sessions and jobs and verify cleanup; it contains no saved content, email address or Apple token. Already sent emails and provider requests cannot be recalled. Backups and provider logs may remain under their retention policies; any restoration must reapply deletion records. See account deletion, retention and support. We retain operational and security records only as needed to operate and protect the Service, resolve disputes or meet legal obligations. Retention outside the active library depends on the record and the applicable provider; contact us for information about a specific deletion request.

7. Your choices and rights

You can edit/delete bookmarks, manage projects, disable account digests, and remove separately configured project email recipients. You can revoke integrations through the relevant account/provider controls. Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction/objection, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. We may need to verify ownership. For support or privacy requests, email support@latentape.com.

8. International processing and business use

Providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use an applicable legal transfer mechanism before undertaking that processing. For individuals, Latent Ape generally determines purposes and means of service/account processing. For eligible business customer content, roles and instructions can be governed by an executed DPA. Merely posting the DPA does not establish transfer safeguards or a signed agreement.

Where applicable, legal bases may include performing our agreement, consent for optional disclosures, legitimate interests in secure service operation, and compliance with legal obligations. Mandatory local privacy rights remain available, including complaining to a competent supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise rights available in your jurisdiction; we will respond within applicable legal time limits.

Connected assistants

If you connect Bookmarqer to ChatGPT or another MCP-compatible assistant, the assistant provider receives the results of tools it calls on your behalf. These may include saved URLs, titles, excerpts, notes, summaries, relevance explanations, save dates, project names and descriptions, bookmark counts, and your AI-sharing status. Bookmark and project identifiers are included so the assistant can retrieve and organize the items you request. The integration does not return authentication secrets, account IDs or internal storage keys. Connecting an assistant is separate from granting permission for Bookmarqer’s optional AI processing; your existing AI-sharing choice continues to apply to saved links. Information returned to an assistant is handled under that provider’s terms and privacy policy. Disconnecting prevents future access through that connection but does not recall information already returned.

9. Security, children and changes

On iOS 26 or later, the iOS app uses Apple’s Declared Age Range service when you choose to access Following or public social feeds. These social features require a shared age range of 18 or older. The response is used on your device; we do not store it or transmit it to Bookmarqer’s servers or AI providers, and we do not receive your date of birth. Declining, a below-18 range, or an unavailable check leaves social feeds inaccessible but does not block your personal bookmarks, projects, insights, sign-in, or saving through the share extension. Older iOS versions ask for an explicit 18+ confirmation for social feeds only. The confirmation lasts for the current foreground session and is not sent to our servers. The Apple service reports the age range associated with the device’s Apple Account and is not identity verification.

We use HTTPS, authenticated account-scoped access, restricted credentials, and platform security controls. No system is completely secure. Following and public social feeds are intended for adults aged 18 or older. Personal bookmarking is not subject to that social-feature age check. Bookmarqer is a general-audience service for people aged 13 or older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not routinely request a birth date or age confirmation during signup. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will stop further collection through that account and take steps to delete its personal information, subject to applicable legal obligations. A parent or guardian can report an under-13 account to support@latentape.com. Please provide enough information to identify the account, but do not email identity documents, passwords or a child’s saved content. We may request limited additional information to verify and resolve a report. We will update this notice when practices change and provide appropriate notice of material changes. The effective date appears above. Changes do not override your AI sharing choice or retroactively authorize new uses requiring consent.
